New Delhi, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : Udit Raj, a prominent leader of the Congress party, has raised serious allegations against the Election Commission, claiming that millions of voters have been improperly removed from the electoral rolls. His comments come ahead of the proposed meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and the India Block, scheduled for September 30.
Raj expressed his concerns about the agenda for the upcoming CWC meeting, stating that he has yet to receive information about it. He emphasized that the most pressing issue facing the country is the alleged theft of votes facilitated by a collaboration between the BJP and the Election Commission. He accused them of securing unfair victories in the 2024 elections, as well as in the assembly elections in Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal, and Haryana. He mentioned that inflation and other significant issues will also be discussed during the meeting.
Regarding the absence of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav from the India Block meeting, Raj explained that Yadav is currently traveling but will have a representative present. He reassured that Yadav remains aligned with the India Block and has participated in past meetings. Raj emphasized the need for all parties to unite on these pressing issues, warning that failure to do so could jeopardize the political existence of regional parties.
In response to the opposition’s repeated claims of “vote theft,” Raj stated that merely repeating a claim does not make it true. He noted that Congress is raising legitimate questions that remain unanswered. He highlighted the case in West Bengal, where he asserted that 3.8 million voters were disenfranchised, with 92-93% of them later found to be eligible. He questioned whether this situation does not constitute vote theft and insisted that if the accusations against the Election Commission are unfounded, they should be refuted.
Raj also addressed accusations from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who alleged that Congress and its allies oppose the Special Investigation Report (SIR) for political gain. He cited discrepancies in the voter list of Bihar, where 1.32 million names were found to have inaccuracies. He raised concerns about errors related to names, addresses, and spellings that cannot simply be dismissed.
Additionally, he mentioned a voter from Goa who wished to register but was unable to do so despite repeated attempts to contact election officials. He argued that such cases need to be addressed by the relevant authorities.
On the recent incident involving Delhi Minister Pravesh Verma, who was filmed slapping a man during a road inspection, Raj condemned the violence. He claimed that not only Verma but another legislator, Gajendra Daral, was involved in an assault on a person named Sunil Kumar, who could have suffered severe consequences had he not been in good health.
Raj also referenced Verma’s previous statements against Muslims and minorities, accusing him of promoting divisive rhetoric. He criticized the BJP for allegedly protecting individuals involved in violence, vote theft, and corruption.
In this charged political atmosphere, Raj’s comments underscore the growing tensions ahead of the upcoming elections.
