Jerusalem, February 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the highest honor by the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament. On Wednesday, during his speech, he received the ‘Speaker of the Knesset Medal,’ making him the first Indian Prime Minister to be honored in this manner.
This prestigious award is the Knesset’s highest recognition, given to PM Modi for his significant contributions to strengthening strategic ties between India and Israel. In response to this honor, he expressed gratitude to the Israeli Parliament.
While addressing the Parliament, PM Modi stated, “I am pleased to inform this esteemed assembly that the Indian Parliament has formed a parliamentary foreign group for Israel. I invite all of you to visit India, and I hope for increased dialogue among our parliament members.”
During his address, PM Modi highlighted, “Honorable members, India has been one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world over the past few years. Soon, we will be among the top three economies globally. We are committed to enhancing trade, strengthening investment flows, and promoting joint infrastructure development.”
He also noted that both nations share ancient civilizations, which perhaps explains the philosophical similarities in their cultural traditions.
The Israeli principle of Tikkun Olam speaks to the idea of repairing the world, while India’s ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ emphasizes that the world is one family. Both philosophies extend responsibility beyond immediate borders.
