Udhampur, April 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned ‘Kalari’ during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program on Sunday, which has filled the people of Udhampur with pride. This traditional dish from Jammu and Kashmir, along with Gujarat’s ‘Topli Nu Paneer’, was highlighted in the broadcast.
Asha Sharma expressed her gratitude, stating, “PM Modi’s mention of Kalari in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is significant. It has already received a Geographical Indication (GI) tag. Many unemployed youths have found jobs through this initiative. Kalari, made from milk, is a favorite product of the Dogra community. I want to thank PM Modi for elevating it to this achievement.”
Gagan Sharma, another local, shared, “Kalari is our traditional dish. PM Modi spoke about it during his last election campaign visit here. He promised to taste Kalari when he comes to Udhampur. The GI tagging has boosted our business and increased Udhampur’s popularity. We are now recognized for Kalari. I would like to thank PM Modi for this gift.”
Neetu Sharma added, “PM Modi’s mention of Kalari in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is a matter of pride for us. It has made Kalari famous across the country. With the GI tag, more unemployed individuals are joining the Kalari business, providing them with job opportunities.”
