Ghaziabad, August 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed women’s empowerment through the PM Svanidhi Scheme during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program on Sunday. He specifically mentioned Babita Sharma from Ghaziabad, showcasing how a woman can achieve new heights in society by leveraging this initiative.
In an interview with a news agency, Babita Sharma expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Modi. She stated that without the benefits of the Svanidhi Scheme initiated by the central government, she would not have reached her current position. Babita faced significant challenges, including a time when securing two meals a day was a struggle. She was determined not to beg for money from anyone. This scheme has made her self-reliant.
Babita shared that her life transformed thanks to the PM Svanidhi Scheme. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her husband left her, leaving her alone. It was then that she learned about the PM Svanidhi Scheme through a contact. She initially took a loan of ₹10,000, followed by ₹20,000, and later ₹50,000, which enabled her to run her shop successfully and provide for her children’s education.
“I am no longer helpless. I am benefiting from the central government’s schemes. I possess a labor card, Ayushman card, and ration card,” she said.
Priya Saraswat, a DUDA officer from Ghaziabad, explained how Babita started with a loan of ₹10,000 and eventually secured a loan of ₹50,000 to expand her business.
