Bhubaneswar, May 22: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Odisha towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
During his recent diplomatic tour across five countries, PM Modi presented exquisite handcrafted artifacts to King Harald V and Queen of Norway. These included a silver boat model and a palm leaf painting.
CM Majhi took to social media platform X, stating, “During his visit to Norway, Prime Minister Narendra Modi showcased India’s civilizational richness to the world, placing Odisha’s timeless artistic heritage at the heart of a significant diplomatic occasion.”
He further noted that the gifts presented to the royal couple were thoughtfully chosen by PM Modi to reflect the depth and diversity of India’s cultural heritage.
Majhi highlighted, “The palm leaf painting gifted to the Queen of Norway is a remarkable piece linked to Odisha’s temple traditions, serving as a living testament to centuries-old craftsmanship and devotional art. The silver boat presented to King Harald V was crafted in Cuttack’s renowned ‘filigree’ style, where skilled artisans weave incredibly fine silver wires into stunning shapes. This artifact not only represents India’s glorious maritime heritage but also embodies the spirit of enduring friendship between our two nations.”
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the inclusion of Odisha’s two most famous art forms in such prestigious diplomatic exchanges is a testament to the growing global recognition of India’s vibrant heritage.
Majhi concluded, “Above all, this is an immensely proud moment for the artisans of Odisha, whose hands nurture an ancient legacy, and whose creations now communicate with the entire world. Odisha is deeply grateful for PM Modi’s generous gesture. He has brought the soul of our land to the global stage and entrusted our vibrant traditions to the hands of the world.”
