New Delhi, August 29: The visit of Mohan Bhagwat, the Chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), to the United States has garnered significant attention from leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP). They view this tour, coinciding with the centenary celebrations of the RSS, as a vital opportunity to promote the organization’s ideals, service initiatives, and Indian culture on an international stage. The leaders believe that such events will help dispel the misconceptions surrounding the RSS abroad.
In Delhi, VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal welcomed Bhagwat’s global tour, stating that it is beneficial for the RSS chief to visit various locations. This will allow people to understand the RSS’s philosophy, ideology, and social work. He emphasized that the misunderstandings and perceptions about the RSS can be addressed through Bhagwat’s speeches and interactions. Bansal encouraged people to listen to and welcome Bhagwat’s lectures.
In Mumbai, BJP legislator Ram Kadam commented on the alleged remarks made by the Mayor of New York regarding the RSS. He suggested that the Mayor should first understand the RSS’s ideology. Kadam noted that the Mayor lacks sufficient information about the RSS, and therefore, his comments should not be given undue importance. He explained that the RSS teaches individuals to consider the entire nation as their family rather than limiting their concerns to just their own families. The organization promotes a message of sacrifice, dedication, and service.
Kadam further stated that if the Mayor wishes to comprehend the RSS’s ideology, he should visit one of its branches to observe its operations firsthand. He also mentioned that the Mayor might have the opportunity to listen to Mohan Bhagwat in the future.
Upasana Arora, president of the VHP Indraprastha province, highlighted that during international travels, Bhagwat often meets RSS volunteers in various locations. For Indians living abroad, meeting Bhagwat and learning about the changes occurring in India will be a significant opportunity. She expressed hope that the event in New York would attract a large audience, with over 5,000 attendees expected, many of whom are eager to hear Bhagwat speak.
In Hoshiarpur, Punjab, senior BJP leader Vijay Sampla congratulated the RSS on its centenary and extended best wishes for Bhagwat’s US tour. He noted that the RSS celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2025, and events are being organized in the US to mark this milestone. Sampla described the RSS as the largest voluntary organization in the country, dedicated to serving humanity and building society.
Sampla emphasized that the RSS is not limited to service activities; it also aims to develop personality, humanity, and a spirit of service among people. Bhagwat’s visit to the US will help convey the organization’s ideals and service initiatives to a broader audience.
BJP leader Ishwar Singh Thakur from Bidar remarked that Bhagwat’s visit and the RSS’s centenary celebrations present an opportunity to share India’s civilizational thought with the world. He stated that the completion of 100 years of the RSS is a historic occasion for the country, with events being held in various parts of India and the world. The global outreach program in the US will promote the Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ which means viewing the entire world as one family.
Thakur added that India’s tradition has always aimed to convey messages of peace, harmony, and mutual respect to the world. He expressed hope that Bhagwat’s address would strongly present this idea on an international platform. India’s eternal tradition is based on connecting humanity and establishing peace and harmony globally.
