
Srinagar, August 29: The Poonch district police in Jammu and Kashmir have successfully resolved a theft case, leading to the arrest of a suspect. Along with the arrest, police recovered stolen goods worth several lakhs.
In a significant achievement against property-related crimes, the Poonch district police have successfully cracked a theft case registered at the Surankote police station. The police apprehended the involved thief and recovered stolen items valued in the lakhs.
The theft occurred on the night of August 19/20, 2026, at the shop of Sahir Ali, son of Shaukat Ali, a resident of Ward Number 8 in Surankote. The incident resulted in the loss of cash and various valuable items, causing substantial financial damage to the shopkeeper. An FIR was lodged at the Surankote police station, prompting an investigation.
During the investigation, the police team identified and arrested the thief through persistent and professional efforts. The suspect has been identified as Zafar Iqbal, a resident of Dudhank, Surankote. Based on his interrogation and further investigation, stolen goods worth several lakhs have been recovered.
The recovered items include several items stolen from the shop. Meanwhile, the investigation is ongoing to uncover the full details of the theft, identify any potential accomplices, and recover additional stolen goods.
