Prayagraj, August 29: Cleanliness workers in Prayagraj have expressed disagreement with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi‘s remarks regarding discrimination against the Dalit community. They assert that discrimination no longer exists.
In conversations with local media, these workers claimed that Rahul Gandhi is unaware of the ground realities. They stated that there is no discrimination faced by children in schools or temples. They credited Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives for the respect they now receive.
Naresh Kumar, a sanitation worker, emphasized that under Modi’s government, the Dalit community has gained dignity. He asserted that there is no discrimination when it comes to visiting temples, sending children to school, or accessing public spaces. The government’s programs have significantly improved their status, and they are experiencing this change firsthand.
Mukesh also disagreed with Gandhi’s claim about discrimination against Dalit children in schools. He noted that, based on his experiences, children now attend schools without facing discrimination. They participate in everyday activities, such as fetching water, without any issues.
Rahul Gandhi had raised concerns about the alleged discrimination and atrocities faced by Dalits, stating that for thousands of years, they have endured violence and oppression. He pointed out that, despite the Constitution making such discrimination illegal, incidents still occur where Dalit children are forced to clean toilets or perform menial tasks. He argued that as Dalits become more vocal and successful, they face increased attacks.
However, the response from cleanliness workers in Prayagraj contrasts with Gandhi’s assertions. They believe that while they experienced discrimination under previous governments, the current NDA administration has eliminated such practices.
