PM Modi Celebrates Cultural Ties at Varanasi Exhibition in Bratislava

Bratislava, June 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited an exhibition focused on Varanasi at the Presidential Palace in Bratislava on Tuesday. After viewing the painting exhibition, he emphasized the cultural connections between India and Slovakia. He stated that art and culture possess a remarkable ability to bring people and nations closer together.

The exhibition featured works by Slovak artists who recently visited Varanasi. Sharing his experience on the social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Connection of Varanasi in Bratislava! Yesterday, President Peter Pellegrini and I viewed a splendid exhibition at the Presidential Palace, showcasing works by Slovak artists inspired by their recent trip to the city. Art and culture truly have a unique capacity to unite people. I extend my best wishes to all the artists whose work was displayed.”

Both PM Modi and Slovak President Peter Pellegrini appreciated the paintings and artworks inspired by Varanasi, PM Modi’s parliamentary constituency.

On Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs posted on X, stating, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Peter Pellegrini observed the painting exhibition organized by Slovak artists at the Presidential Palace.” The ministry also shared glimpses of the exhibition.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the exhibition was themed around ‘the city of Varanasi,’ artistically presenting the spiritual, cultural, and daily life aspects of one of India’s oldest cities.

The artworks included paintings by Slovak artists who drew inspiration from the unique atmosphere and traditions of Varanasi during their recent visit.

Both leaders praised the creative interpretation and cultural vibrancy of Varanasi, affirming that art will continue to serve as a strong cultural bridge between India and Slovakia.

Slovakia honored Prime Minister Modi with its highest state award, the ‘Order of the White Double Cross (First Class).’ This marks the 33rd international honor bestowed upon PM Modi by a foreign country.

PM Modi expressed his gratitude on X, stating, “I feel honored to receive the Order of the White Double Cross (First Class) this evening in Bratislava. I thank the people and government of Slovakia, which represents the 1.4 billion people of India. I dedicate this award to the enduring friendship between India and Slovakia.”
