Mumbai, July 24: Preparations are underway for the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) 2026. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will unveil the festival’s logo this Friday, marking the official launch of this significant event.
The logo unveiling ceremony will take place at the Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar at 5:30 PM. Senior government officials, film industry professionals, and other notable guests are expected to attend.
The IFFJK 2026 aims to provide a substantial platform for filmmakers, artists, and creative individuals from India and around the world. The festival will showcase Jammu and Kashmir’s culture, traditions, natural beauty, and diverse stories on an international stage.
According to officials, this film festival will help establish Jammu and Kashmir as a new hub for cinema and the arts. It is expected to promote film production, boost tourism, and create new employment opportunities for the youth. Local individuals involved in the film, media, and creative industries are also anticipated to benefit significantly.
The first edition of the festival is scheduled to run from September 7 to September 10, 2026. The main events will be held at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. Additionally, open-air screenings and other activities will take place at various beautiful tourist spots across Jammu and Kashmir, with some events potentially extending until September 11.
The festival is being organized in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). It will feature international competitions alongside Indian cinema, documentaries, short films, student films, animation, and regional films.
Competition entries for filmmakers opened on July 1, 2026, and will remain open until July 31, 2026. Categories include Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor (Male and Female). Filmmakers from around the globe will be able to submit their works for consideration.
During the festival, industry forums, technical workshops, and cultural programs will also be held. These initiatives aim to connect individuals involved in film production and reinforce Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cinematic history.
