Mumbai, April 7: The Cleveland Cavaliers have secured their third consecutive victory, showcasing impressive performances against the Memphis Grizzlies.
All grades are based on our usual expectations for each player.
NOTE: I retroactively deducted half a grade from everyone tonight due to the three-point defense. This is the consequence when your opponent ties the NBA record for threes made.
Jarrett Allen
13 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks
Allen was exceptional tonight. His behind-the-back dribble leading to a powerful dunk was a highlight. He also made significant contributions on defense, rejecting shots at the rim and demonstrating his two-way impact throughout the game.
The Cavaliers are maximizing Allen’s potential, even as he manages some knee discomfort.
Grade: B+
Evan Mobley
24 points, 4 assists, 6 rebounds
Mobley had a favorable matchup and the Cavaliers capitalized on it, frequently passing the ball to him. He finished with a game-high 24 points on 9-11 shooting. However, he could have pushed for even more points, potentially reaching 30+.
Grade: B+
Keon Ellis
19 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal
Ellis is in great form. He scored 16 points in the first half on 6-9 shooting and delivered an electrifying dunk that helped the Cavaliers overcome a 17-point deficit. His 8 assists were particularly impressive, as he exploited the Grizzlies’ defensive overcommitment.
Grade: A
Craig Porter Jr.
11 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks
Porter has shown consistency in his recent performances, contributing significantly across the board. He is a joy to watch, especially in a league that increasingly favors three-point specialists.
Grade: A
Sam Merrill
21 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals
Merrill scored a substantial portion of his points in the third quarter, a crucial period where Cleveland began to pull away. His ability to score from various levels has been a pleasant surprise, justifying his offseason extension.
Grade: A–
Nae’Qwan Tomlin
10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block
Tomlin has delivered two strong performances recently, rediscovering his role as an energizer who relentlessly attacks the boards.
Grade: A-
Dennis Schroder
22 points, 11 assists, 4 rebounds
Schroder thrived as the lead guard, showcasing his skills effectively. He shot 8-12 and recorded a game-high 11 assists, providing a significant boost in the absence of both Donovan Mitchell and James Harden.
Grade: A
Larry Nance Jr.
10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal
Nance contributed quality minutes off the bench. While it remains uncertain if he will see playoff minutes, it’s encouraging to see him perform well as the season concludes.
Grade: B
Tyrese Proctor
10 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals
The rookie is getting valuable playing time before the season ends. These experiences will be crucial for his development, although he struggled with his shooting tonight.
