Mumbai, May 17: In anticipation of Eid al-Adha, a significant meeting was held on Saturday in the city, aimed at maintaining peace and order. Prominent Muslim leaders, social activists, and community figures, including Nawab Malik and Waris Pathan, participated, emphasizing the need for a peaceful celebration of the festival.
All attendees unanimously expressed their trust in the country’s laws and their commitment to celebrating Eid with love, brotherhood, and harmony.
Lawyer Ameen Solkar stated that the primary goal of this initiative is to ensure that Eid is celebrated in a completely peaceful environment. He mentioned that discussions were held with all parties to ensure compliance with guidelines issued by the BMC and the government. The belief is that problems can only be resolved through mutual dialogue, which is why everyone gathered on a common platform.
Muslim cleric Maulana Mufti Ashfaq Qazi highlighted the importance of India’s composite culture, stating that the country is one where festivals of all religions are celebrated with love and brotherhood. He warned that some individuals attempt to disrupt the atmosphere for their selfish motives, urging society to collectively oppose such elements. He assured that strict action would be taken against those who attempt to take the law into their own hands, with a team of lawyers ready to handle such cases.
Meanwhile, AIMIM spokesperson Waris Pathan noted that lawyers, social activists, and responsible citizens were invited to the meeting. He announced the formation of a committee to address any issues or complaints related to the festival. He alleged that some so-called cow protectors attempt to create disturbances, but legal measures will be adopted to handle such situations.
