Panama and China Anticipate Continued Multilevel Dialogue, Says Deputy Foreign Minister

Beijing, June 5: Panama’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Carlos Guevara Mann, stated on June 3 that the relationship between Panama and China extends beyond diplomatic and economic realms. It reflects a long-standing friendship and cultural exchange between the two nations. He expressed hope that both sides will continue multilevel dialogue to promote the ongoing development of bilateral relations.

On June 3, the Chinese Embassy in Panama hosted a reception in the capital to celebrate the ninth anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Panama. The event was attended by officials from the Panamanian government and representatives from various sectors.

In his address, Carlos Guevara Mann highlighted that China has been a significant partner in talent development in Panama. He expressed optimism that both countries will maintain dialogue based on respect, empathy, and creative cooperation, further strengthening their bilateral ties.

Chinese Ambassador to Panama, Shu Xueyuan, remarked that China and Panama are not only new friends but also old acquaintances, with their relationship filled with energy and potential. He noted that Panama is China’s largest trading partner in Central America and the Caribbean.

Shu Xueyuan stated, “The people of China and Panama are continuously coming closer through mutual benefits and shared cooperation, enhancing mutual understanding.”

Former Panamanian President Aristides Royo previously told Xinhua News Agency that the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has yielded remarkable results, while educational collaboration has also been quite impactful. He expressed confidence that bilateral relations will continue to strengthen.
