Pakistans Interior Minister Meets Iranian Counterpart to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Tehran, June 7: Amid escalating tensions over the U.S.-Iran ceasefire, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran. He met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and delivered a special message addressed to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

The official X account of the Iranian government shared images from the meeting, highlighting discussions on various issues of mutual interest. The leaders explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation as neighboring countries.

During the meeting, they also addressed regional stability, security collaboration, and potential new directions for their relationship. Both sides emphasized the importance of increasing cooperation in areas of shared interest and strengthening mutual dialogue. They also reviewed the current status of Pakistan’s mediation efforts in the ongoing U.S.-Israel conflict against Iran.

According to reports, Naqvi presented the letter to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during their meeting in Tehran. The letter is said to have been sent on behalf of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir.

While the contents of the letter remain confidential, Pakistani and Iranian media suggest it may address issues related to the current regional situation and Iran-U.S. relations.

Naqvi’s visit is considered part of Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts for mediation. According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, he is expected to meet several senior officials during his trip. Discussions are likely to focus on regional security, bilateral relations, and issues related to Iran-U.S. negotiations.

Before departing for Tehran, Naqvi met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where he received specific instructions regarding ongoing talks between Tehran and Washington.

Reports indicate that Naqvi had two discussions with Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni during an international conference held in Kyrgyzstan over the last 48 hours. These meetings focused on regional developments and topics of shared interest between the two nations.
