
Bhopal, June 23: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that public consultations for implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) have been successfully conducted across all districts in the state. The meetings were held peacefully, with a state-level consultation taking place in Bhopal on June 22. Separate discussions were organized with various commissions, departments, political parties, and religious leaders to gather opinions.
He revealed that approximately 34.9 million SMS invitations were sent to stakeholders to solicit suggestions on the UCC. More than 900,000 responses have been received, with over 90% of citizens expressing support for the UCC. The initiative has also garnered significant backing from minority communities. The draft bill is currently being collaboratively developed with the law department by a dedicated committee. CM Yadav shared this information during a cabinet meeting at the ministry.
Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that the Guru Purnima festival will be celebrated from July 15 to 29 in the state. Various educational and cultural competitions will be held in schools during this period, involving representatives, parents, and subject experts. A comprehensive development plan for students will be created.
He mentioned that the School Education Department has prepared a daily action plan that includes activities such as speech and essay competitions, Sanskrit verse presentations, health awareness programs, tree planting, and career guidance. A one-day Guru Purnima celebration will take place at Sandipani schools, featuring science exhibitions and innovation programs led by students. Parents, representatives, and citizens will participate in these events.
Furthermore, CM Yadav announced that the renowned wildlife tourism site, Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, has been awarded the ‘Editor’s Choice Award – Best Wildlife Destination’ at the ‘India Today Tourism Survey and Awards 2026’. The award was presented by Union Minister of Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in Goa. Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is recognized for its rich biodiversity, healthy tiger population, natural beauty, and effective conservation management, highlighting the state government’s efforts in biodiversity preservation.
