Kohima, July 22: The Congress party has suffered a significant political blow in Nagaland. Leaders from the Mokokchung district, including members of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), District Congress Committee (DCC), Youth Congress, and Women’s Congress, have collectively resigned from all party positions and their primary membership.
In their resignation letters addressed to the party president, the leaders accused the NPCC leadership of mismanagement, authoritarian practices, and fostering a divisive atmosphere within the party.
In a letter directed to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president, they expressed that this decision was made with heavy hearts and deep sorrow. They stated that the ongoing mismanagement and unilateral decision-making by the NPCC leadership have led to chaos, confusion, and division within the party.
The letter further alleged that recent decisions made by the leadership have weakened the party’s organizational structure at the district level. Instead of strengthening the organization and upholding democratic values, dedicated Congress workers have been consistently overlooked, resulting in a climate of distrust and factionalism.
The resigning leaders emphasized that under the current circumstances, it has become impossible for them to serve the public with dignity. They noted that even in 2015, when the Congress was nearly defunct in Nagaland, they remained loyal to the party’s principles and ideology. However, they can no longer silently witness the weakening of the party organization in their district and the entire state.
Consequently, they have decided to resign from all party positions and responsibilities, as well as from their primary membership in the Indian National Congress, effective immediately.
Among those who resigned are former president of the Mokokchung District Congress Committee, Vatimongba Air, NPCC secretary (former DCC vice president) Lanusanen Imsong, and NPCC minority cell vice president and former general secretary Prakash Ale, along with several other officials and active workers.
