New Delhi, February 5: Union Minister Chirag Paswan commented on the opposition’s walkout during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in the Rajya Sabha. He stated that the opposition raises questions but is unwilling to hear the answers.

In a conversation in New Delhi, Paswan emphasized that the opposition should have the courage to listen to the responses to their questions. He noted that PM Modi wanted to speak in the Lok Sabha, but the chaos caused by the opposition made it impossible. When he addressed the Rajya Sabha, the opposition chose to walk out. Paswan affirmed that PM Modi answered every question posed by the opposition.

“The real issue for the opposition is that they ask questions but do not want to hear the answers,” he said. “The beauty of democracy lies in asking even the toughest questions while maintaining decorum. It is not necessary to climb onto chairs to express dissent. One can articulate strong opposition in respectful terms.”

Paswan advised opposition leaders to learn from PM Modi on how to pose questions and respond in a dignified manner. He argued that if the opposition asked questions respectfully, they would receive answers. “The question remains: the opposition asks questions but is not ready to receive answers,” he added.

Regarding the behavior of opposition women MPs near PM Modi‘s seat in the Lok Sabha, Paswan described it as a serious incident. He was present in the house at the time and noted that a group of women was approaching the Prime Minister’s chair. While he did not claim that the situation would have turned violent, he warned that any unpleasant or inappropriate behavior could have left a significant stain on Parliament. “Your words hold power; you can ask tough questions from your seat without needing to climb on tables or chairs,” he stated.

Paswan concluded by asserting that if the opposition intends to disrupt question time, it does not strengthen the definition of democracy in any way.
