Kolkata, March 26: The political atmosphere in West Bengal is heating up as the assembly elections approach. BJP leader Arjun Singh has drawn a parallel between the elections and warfare, asserting that “to win a war, one must do anything necessary.” He emphasized the need to defeat Mamata Banerjee’s government at all costs.
In an interview, Singh stated, “If they throw stones at us, we will respond. Whether with stones or other means, they will understand our message. We must do whatever it takes to remove the Mamata government. She is not fighting an election; she is trying to loot.” He called for unity among the public to ensure victory in the upcoming polls.
BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari remarked that all parties are competing in the elections, including the CPI. He noted, “Let them speak. Mamata Banerjee herself claims to have won by 50,000 votes. However, since 2020, the BJP’s popularity has been on the rise. In Hindu villages, you will see lotus flowers blooming everywhere.”
Regarding Ram Navami, BJP leader Locket Chatterjee pointed out that Mamata Banerjee’s statements often precede violence during the festival. He accused her of attempting to consolidate minority votes through appeasement politics, stating, “The public is determined to oust her this time. They will no longer tolerate such politics.”
On the alliance between Humayun Kabir and Owaisi, Chatterjee claimed that the Trinamool Congress and Humayun’s party are essentially the same. He described this as their “Plan B” to gain power in Bengal if their initial strategies fail.
Chatterjee criticized Banerjee for failing to promote minority development while repeatedly winning elections by rallying minority support. He warned that if her “Plan A” does not succeed, she will resort to “Plan B,” but he believes the public is now aware and will not allow such tactics to prevail.
