New Delhi, July 2: Indian Army doctors and medical personnel are tirelessly serving humanity thousands of kilometers away in earthquake-affected Venezuela. Under Operation Amistad, a team of 60 from the Para Field Hospital has been deployed.
This army team is actively engaged in relief efforts and has provided essential treatment to 815 patients so far. Health services in many areas of Venezuela were disrupted after the earthquake. At this critical time, the Indian Army’s field hospital has emerged as a beacon of hope for those affected.
The medical team has not only treated the injured but has also admitted critically ill patients to hospitals, saving lives. Currently, 20 patients are hospitalized, receiving ongoing treatment. Notably, Indian doctors are not just providing emergency care; they are offering a wide range of health services. To date, 233 dental treatments, 1,836 lab tests, and 253 X-rays have been conducted.
Significantly, the team has successfully completed approximately 65 surgeries, including many urgent operations. The promptness of Indian doctors has given new life to several individuals. It is worth mentioning that India promptly sent its military medical team to assist its friendly nation in the aftermath of the earthquake.
The Indian Army is working alongside local authorities to deliver medical assistance to affected areas. Thousands of kilometers away, on foreign soil, Indian soldiers are saving lives with stethoscopes, medicines, and a spirit of service, rather than weapons. This is why the people of Venezuela see the Indian Army not just as doctors but as true friends in times of crisis. Operation Amistad once again demonstrates that India extends a helping hand during disasters and stands at the forefront of humanitarian efforts.
