Farmers Misled by Fake Fertilizers: Promod Kumar Singh

Aurangabad, August 23: Promod Kumar Singh, a legislator from the Janata Dal United (JD(U)), has raised concerns about the reliance of farmers on DAP fertilizers. He emphasized the need for farmers to diversify their fertilizer usage.

In an interview on Saturday, Singh warned that excessive focus on DAP could empower syndicates engaged in black marketing. He stated that farmers are being cheated with counterfeit fertilizers sold under the guise of DAP. “Farmers are becoming victims of fraud,” he noted, adding that alternatives to DAP could also be beneficial for agriculture.

Recently, Singh discussed these issues with agricultural officials, expressing disappointment that many farmers are reluctant to understand the situation. He cautioned that if anything goes wrong, the farmers themselves would bear the responsibility. “Farmers should take the advice of agricultural officials seriously to ensure a clearer future,” he urged.

Singh mentioned that various programs are organized to raise awareness among farmers, providing them with essential agricultural knowledge to avoid problems. However, he lamented that a significant number of farmers do not participate in these initiatives. “The current demand for DAP is at its peak, but the supply is limited. Farmers must realize that other fertilizers can also be effective,” he added.

He appealed to farmers to heed the suggestions of agricultural officials and incorporate alternative fertilizers into their practices, which would surely benefit them. “We can trust the advice of agricultural officials as they possess comprehensive knowledge and training in this area,” he concluded.

Additionally, farmers who received DAP fertilizers shared their experiences. Uday Kumar Tengra mentioned that he brought DAP fertilizers with him. Another farmer expressed concerns about the current state of agriculture, noting that fertilizer prices have surged past 2,000 rupees. He also highlighted irrigation issues, stating, “We have completed planting, but irrigation has not yet been possible due to a lack of water in the canals.”
