Dhenkanal, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Vigilance teams in Odisha have intensified their investigation into Anupama Sahu, an assistant executive engineer from the Kendrapara Drainage Division, following her alleged involvement in bribery. Raids were conducted at multiple locations, including Dhenkanal district and Talcher, resulting in the seizure of ₹7.15 lakh in cash.
The operation began after credible information surfaced regarding Sahu’s acceptance of bribes from contractors. Authorities monitored her movements, and she was intercepted by vigilance officials near the Marshaghai crossing on NH-53A while traveling from her office to her residence in Nayanabihar. During this encounter, ₹3.15 lakh in cash was confiscated.
Subsequent searches at her home revealed an additional ₹4 lakh, bringing the total cash seized to ₹7.15 lakh. Due to her inability to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the cash, the vigilance investigation has been expedited.
Raids are ongoing at several of Sahu’s residential properties, including her in-laws’ house in Ziridamali and a rented building on Main Road in Kamakhyanagar, which houses a bank, a gym, and a warehouse for iron rods.
Vigilance officials have also discovered various assets, including bank deposits, insurance bonds, gold jewelry, vehicles, and other valuables, which appear inconsistent with her declared income. The full extent of the assets will be determined once the raids are completed.
