New Delhi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : C.P. Radhakrishnan, the Vice President of India, urged the youth to embrace a spirit of service and duty during the 11th Sant Eeshwar Award ceremony held in New Delhi on October 2, 2026. As the chief guest, he presented the Sant Eeshwar Service Awards to individuals and organizations recognized for their exemplary and selfless contributions to society.
Radhakrishnan described the Sant Eeshwar Award as a celebration of altruism and a recognition of India’s culture of compassion and responsibility. He congratulated all the award recipients for their extraordinary contributions to the nation.
He commended the Sant Eeshwar Foundation and the National Service Bharati for initiating these awards and sustaining the initiative for 11 years. By honoring countless individuals who work silently to empower society and create a more inclusive nation, these awards inspire others to pursue the path of service, he noted.
Highlighting India’s ancient tradition of service, the Vice President recalled the cultural ethos that teaches, “Service to humanity is service to God.” He emphasized that great saints and thinkers in India have inspired people to rise above self-interest and dedicate themselves to the welfare of others.
Radhakrishnan discussed the goal of a “Developed India,” stating that development cannot be measured solely by economic growth, infrastructure, or technological advancement. A truly developed India is one where every citizen experiences dignity, opportunity, and hope.
He asserted that every citizen is a stakeholder in the nation’s progress, and the efforts of service organizations and individuals contribute significantly to nation-building. Citing the Swachh Bharat Mission, he illustrated how public participation can transform a government initiative into a mass movement.
The Vice President also addressed the serious threats posed by substance abuse to the health and future of youth. He reminded attendees of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s launch of the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Developed India” campaign in August and Home Minister Amit Shah’s introduction of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat 2029” roadmap. Both initiatives represent crucial steps toward a drug-free India.
Concluding his address, Radhakrishnan emphasized the importance of compassion, character, and social responsibility alongside development. He congratulated all award winners and expressed hope that their lives would inspire more citizens, especially the youth, to dedicate themselves to societal welfare and strengthen their sense of service and duty.
