Odisha Vigilance Raids Five Locations Linked to Medical Officer for Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar, June 30: The Odisha Vigilance conducted raids on five locations associated with Dhanuadhar Biswal, an officer at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Sambalpur district, on Tuesday. This action is part of an investigation into allegations of acquiring assets beyond his known sources of income.

Dhanuadhar Biswal serves as the establishment officer-cum-office superintendent at VIMSAR. He is accused of amassing wealth that exceeds his legitimate earnings.

According to reports, the raids were executed based on a search warrant issued by a special vigilance judge in Sambalpur. Vigilance officials stated that the operation aims to scrutinize Biswal’s movable and immovable properties, bank accounts, investments, crucial documents, and records related to other financial transactions. The objective is to determine whether his assets align with his legal income.

For this operation, the Odisha Vigilance has assembled a specialized team comprising two deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), five inspectors, three assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), and other support staff. All officers are conducting simultaneous searches at different locations to ensure the investigation is thorough and effective.

The five sites being searched include Biswal’s two-story residence in Dhanakuda, a building located in Gudisingha, his government accommodation in the VIMSAR medical staff colony, and his office room at the VIMSAR superintendent’s office. Investigators are meticulously examining documents, property records, and other evidence at these locations.

Sources indicate that the documents and materials discovered during the searches will be evaluated. Should sufficient evidence of disproportionate assets be found, the Vigilance Department will initiate further legal action. Currently, officials have not disclosed any official information regarding the seizures or the value of the assets.

As of the time of reporting, the search operations are ongoing at all locations. The Odisha Vigilance is expected to provide detailed information and an official statement soon. It will only be after the investigation concludes that the next steps in this case will become clear.
