Bhuwaneshwar, 2 January: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday directed the vigilance department to continue its anti-corruption campaign. He said the time has come to make Odisha corruption-free and set an example that will deter government officials from indulging in corrupt practices.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while presiding over a high-level review meeting of the vigilance department at the Lok Seva Bhawan.

According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Majhi assured that the state government would evaluate the various requirements of the vigilance department, including capacity building, recruitment, and filling of vacant posts, and take appropriate decisions at the earliest.

During the meeting, it was revealed that the state government had sent a record 125 corruption cases to the vigilance department for investigation between 1 April and 31 December 2025.

The CMO said such a large number of cases had never before been referred for investigation within a nine-month period.

The review also showed that a total of 488 corruption cases were disposed of in 2025. Among these, cases related to disproportionate assets (DA) were the highest in number.

This year, 173 DA-related cases were resolved, setting an all-time record.

The vigilance department also intensified enforcement actions in 2025. Vigilance teams conducted raids at 487 locations across the state and took action in cases involving disproportionate assets and bribery.

Under these operations, 1,199 bank accounts linked to corrupt government officials were frozen. Significant assets seized during these drives included 153 buildings, 417 plots of land, 12 farmhouses, and 18.3 kilograms of gold.

Additionally, deposits worth ₹36.69 crore and cash amounting to ₹8.8 crore were confiscated. The Chief Minister praised the State Vigilance Academy and the vigilance department for this achievement.
