New Delhi, September 3: The North Delhi Strikers have clinched the title of the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2026. They triumphed over the South Delhi Superstars by six wickets in the final match held at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.
Batting first, the South Delhi Superstars managed to score 122 runs, losing six wickets in the process. The team faced an early setback when Priya Punia was dismissed for a duck on the very first ball. Following this, Taniska Singh partnered with Tanishka Singh to add 16 runs for the second wicket in 24 balls.
Taniska was out after scoring 12 runs off 18 balls, which included one six. Tanishka then teamed up with captain Shweta Sehrawat to contribute another 29 runs for the third wicket, bringing the team’s total to 45.
Tanishka Singh scored 21 runs off 25 balls before returning to the pavilion, after which captain Shweta took charge. She, along with Nishika Singh, added 43 runs in 40 balls, pushing the team’s score to 88. Shweta was dismissed after scoring 31 runs.
Disha Nagar and Nishika Singh then added 25 runs for the fifth wicket. Nishika scored 39 runs, hitting one six and four fours in her 30-ball innings. From the opposition, Rushika Beniwal, Apeksha Anand, Priya Mishra, Najma, and Archana each took one wicket.
In response, the North Delhi Strikers achieved their title-winning score in 19 overs. They lost their first wicket, Upasana Yadav, for 9 runs at a score of 9. The team faced another blow at 15 runs when Shivi Sharma was dismissed for just 2 runs.
From that point, Archana partnered with captain Ayushi Soni to build a solid third-wicket partnership, scoring 71 runs in 62 balls. Archana contributed 40 runs off 36 balls, including one six and four fours, before being dismissed.
The Strikers lost their third wicket at a score of 86. Ayushi Soni then collaborated with Najma to add 19 runs for the fourth wicket in just 21 balls. Ayushi scored 43 runs off 39 balls, hitting three fours. By the time the fourth wicket fell, the score had reached 105. Najma then formed an unbeaten partnership of 23 runs with Samaira Raghav in just 13 balls, leading the team to a historic victory. From the opposing side, Rupali Mohan, Tanishka Singh, and Ekta Bhardwaj each took one wicket.
