New Delhi, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : On September 7, 2026, Ashish Shelar, the president of the E-Sports Games Federation (ESGF), had the honor of meeting cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar in New Delhi. During their meeting, Shelar presented Tendulkar with a special book from the federation.
Shelar shared photographs from the encounter on the social media platform X, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to meet the Bharat Ratna awardee. He mentioned, “As the president of the E-Sports Games Federation, I presented him with our federation’s book and extended a special invitation to visit the Bandra West public Ganesh festival to seek blessings from our beloved Bappa. It was truly a memorable meeting with a legend who continues to inspire generations with his passion for the sport.”
The 2026 Asian Games are set to take place from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. This edition will feature 11 e-sports events as medal competitions.
Among the e-sports events at the Asian Games 2026 are competitive martial arts team competitions, including the Street Fighter series, Tekken series, and King of Fighters series. Other games include Pokémon Unite, Honor of Kings, League of Legends, PUBG Mobile (Asian Games version), Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Identity V (Asian Games version), Naraka: Bladepoint, Gran Turismo 7, eFootball series, and Puyo Puyo Champions.
A total of 15 Indian players will compete in four different e-sports titles. The Indian e-sports team for the Asian Games 2026 includes Chinmay Sahu (eFootball), Daniel Shakeel Patel (eFootball), Ahmad Shahid Israr (League of Legends), Rahul Bisht (League of Legends), Sanidhya Malik (League of Legends), Mihir Ranjan (League of Legends), Akash Shandilya (League of Legends), Akshaj Shenoy (League of Legends), Adnan Mohammad Badshah (Pokémon Unite), Ruben Godfrey Fernandes (Pokémon Unite), Sai Krishna Nalluri (Pokémon Unite), Deepjyoti Lakshman Nath (Pokémon Unite), Rudra Narayan Nayak (Pokémon Unite), Deepakumar Vipulbhai Patel (Pokémon Unite), and Paritosh (Puyo Puyo Champions).
