New Delhi, May 11: A significant meeting chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh took place on Monday. The discussion focused on the potential impact of the situation in West Asia on energy supply chains. Additionally, the meeting provided a comprehensive assessment of fuel availability and the storage and distribution of essential goods.
The government assured citizens that there would be no shortage of any essential items, and all necessary measures are being taken to maintain a smooth supply chain.
Due to the conflict between Iran and the U.S.-Israel in West Asia, energy supplies have been disrupted in many countries. India is closely monitoring the current situation in West Asia to prepare for any potential challenges. In this context, the fifth meeting of the inter-ministerial group was held to review the status of energy supply and the availability of essential goods in the country.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the meeting, which included key figures such as Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, and Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu, among others.
The meeting emphasized that despite international tensions, the supply of petrol, diesel, cooking gas, and other essential items remains normal in the country. The government is continuously monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to address any shortages or disruptions.
According to Rajnath Singh, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, effective measures are being implemented to ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential goods. The central government and relevant agencies are coordinating efforts to strengthen energy security, supply chains, and market stability.
He urged the public to remain calm and patient, avoiding panic and unnecessary purchases. The government confirmed that there is a sufficient stock of essential goods in the country and that the situation is fully under control.
The meeting also highlighted that Prime Minister Modi’s appeal for collective participation and resource conservation during these global challenges is a significant step towards self-reliance and energy security. Energy conservation and responsible consumption are being linked to national interests as part of a broader strategy to tackle difficult global conditions.
It is noteworthy that the conflict between Iran and the U.S.-Israel has severely affected the movement of cargo ships through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for the supply of crude oil and gas to various countries. Currently, a ceasefire is in place between the two nations; however, the smooth movement of cargo vessels has not yet been ensured.
