Guwahati, February 19: Nitin Naveen, the National President of the BJP, emphasized the vital role of tea garden workers in Assam’s rich spiritual heritage and cultural unity during his recent tour of Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts.
Sharing details of his visit on the social media platform X, Naveen highlighted his trip to the sacred Namghar in Barakuri village, describing it as a spiritual center that reflects the deep faith and cultural amalgamation of the Moran community.
He noted that Barakuri exemplifies a harmonious life with nature, where residents coexist with wildlife. Referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks during the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program, Naveen mentioned that this village is also home to the rare hoolock gibbons, known locally as ‘Holo Bandar,’ who have made this village their habitat alongside the local population.
“This small village beautifully demonstrates how faith, culture, and nature can coexist,” he stated, adding that he prayed for peace, prosperity, and the continuous progress of the nation’s citizens at the Namghar.
Later, Naveen enjoyed a traditional Assamese breakfast at the residence of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the Lakhinagar area of Dibrugarh. He expressed that this interaction allowed him to experience Assam’s warm hospitality and its rich culinary traditions.
Discussing the significance of Assam’s tea industry, Naveen remarked that the state’s tea gardens are renowned worldwide for their lush landscapes, while Assam tea has gained international recognition for its unique flavor and exceptional quality.
He emphasized that this global recognition of Assam tea is a result of the relentless hard work, dedication, and commitment of the tea garden workers. “The labor and discipline of those working in the tea gardens have earned Assam tea global acknowledgment. Their contribution has always been a source of pride for Assam,” he stated.
Naveen also acknowledged that the efforts of these workers play a crucial role in strengthening the state’s economy and cultural heritage. He concluded that his visit reinforced the importance of maintaining Assam’s cultural, ecological, and economic strengths while promoting inclusive development that balances tradition and sustainable growth.
