Mumbai, June 10: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday for completing an unprecedented 12-year tenure. He noted that India has transformed from a supportive nation to a developed one under Modi’s leadership, highlighting significant national achievements such as lifting 250 million citizens out of poverty and establishing India as a defense-exporting nation.
In a letter, Fadnavis praised Modi as the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history. He expressed deep gratitude for Modi’s unwavering support for Maharashtra’s infrastructure and development projects.
The Chief Minister recalled how Modi swiftly approved a special package in 2015 for Maharashtra’s severely drought-affected regions, enabling the completion of over 100 critical irrigation projects in Vidarbha, Marathwada, and northern Maharashtra.
Fadnavis credited Modi for major cultural milestones, including the inclusion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 11 forts in the UNESCO World Heritage list, granting Marathi classical language status, and establishing memorials for Babasaheb Ambedkar in both London and Mumbai (Indu Mill).
He also acknowledged the central government’s role in accelerating long-stalled mega projects such as the Navi Mumbai International Airport, Mumbai Metro-3, metro networks in Nagpur and Pune, the Samruddhi Mahamarg, Atal Setu, and coastal roads.
Highlighting the upcoming Vadavan Port, Fadnavis described it as a historic project. He mentioned the expansion of the Amaravati Textile Park into a mega textile hub, as well as ongoing developments in Auric City and Dighi Port.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Gadchiroli is rapidly evolving into the country’s ‘Green Steel Hub.’ He stated that this region will become a national model for development following the successful eradication of Naxalism.
This letter comes at a critical time as Maharashtra faces the immediate impacts of climate change, with the looming threat of El Niño and potential delays in the monsoon. Nevertheless, expressing full confidence in the state’s capabilities, Fadnavis stated that the central government’s support empowers Maharashtra to assert that it will not stop now.
He wished PM Modi well for his future endeavors and requested his continued blessings and guidance to further Maharashtra’s development.
