New Delhi, July 31: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan hailed the passing of the ‘Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026′ in Parliament as a historic step for students’ futures.
In a post on the social media platform X, Home Minister Amit Shah stated, “The Modi government has taken a significant step towards securing our students’ futures by passing the ‘Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026’ in Parliament today.”
He emphasized that this new law would serve as the strongest measure to prevent crimes that undermine the credibility of the public examination system and harm the aspirations of our youth. Shah noted that the law ensures stringent punishments for those attempting to tamper with the fairness of the merit-based system, allowing young people to achieve their dreams.
Central Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also reacted to the bill’s passage, stating, “The passage of the ‘Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026’ in the Rajya Sabha has strengthened a transparent and fair examination system.”
Chouhan attributed this achievement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership. He remarked, “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, this is a historic step towards freeing the examination system from corruption and the fear of paper leaks, making it more reliable.”
The new amendment bill includes strict provisions to prevent paper leaks, cheating, and other unfair practices. It encompasses harsh penalties, time-bound investigations, fast-track courts, and the establishment of special task forces when necessary. Additionally, biometric verification has been made mandatory to enhance transparency in the examination process.
Chouhan assured that these provisions would ensure that the hard work of youth is not wasted due to any unfair means. He acknowledged that students and parents have long been troubled by incidents of paper leaks and fraud. This new law is expected to restore trust in the examination system.
