Digvijaya Singh Accuses Delhi Police of Using Force Against Peaceful Protesters
Digvijaya Singh criticizes Delhi Police for alleged violence against peaceful protesters and calls for accountability during his visit to Dewas.

Dewas, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh accused Delhi police officers of using excessive force against peaceful protesters during a recent demonstration. Speaking in Dewas, Singh demanded strict action against those involved, including a female constable who allegedly mistreated a woman activist from the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).
While on his visit, Singh condemned the police’s actions and called for accountability from the officers who were reportedly involved in the assault on demonstrators. He stated that there is a grave injustice occurring, emphasizing the need for serious repercussions for the alleged misconduct of the police, particularly towards the NSUI student.
Singh asserted that the protest was peaceful and reiterated his demand for action against all officials implicated in the alleged violence. He noted that details surrounding the incident and the police’s response were not immediately available.
Linking the protest to the Congress party’s broader campaign against electoral irregularities and corruption, Singh described it as a fight against what opposition parties term “vote theft” and “note theft.” He highlighted concerns over voters being removed from electoral rolls and manipulation of votes through electronic voting machines (EVMs). Singh also expressed alarm over alleged corruption related to religious donations, arguing that the campaign aims to raise public awareness about electoral integrity and financial misconduct.
The Congress party has frequently alleged irregularities in the electoral process and raised questions regarding the use of EVMs, while the BJP has dismissed these accusations of electoral fraud.
Singh’s comments come as the Congress party seeks to spotlight discrepancies in voter lists and demand greater accountability in election management. Additionally, he is set to launch his planned “Saty Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra” from Ujjain on October 20. This religious-themed march will cover approximately 930 kilometers through Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, concluding in Ayodhya, starting from the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. Singh has previously stated that the journey will focus on the core values of Sanatan Dharma and aims to highlight its fundamental principles.
