Supreme Court Issues Notice to Sanjay Raut and Journalist Nikhil Wagle Over Controversial Comments
The Supreme Court has issued notices to Sanjay Raut and journalist Nikhil Wagle for comments deemed disrespectful to the institution.

New Delhi, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : The Supreme Court has issued notices to Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut and senior journalist Nikhil Wagle following a petition filed by Pradeep Kumar Rai, the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA). Rai expressed regret over the necessity of the petition, highlighting that both individuals hold responsible positions. He described their comments as unfortunate and damaging to the institution’s reputation.
Rai stated, “The Supreme Court has taken note of this matter. I filed this petition with great regret, especially since these comments came from two very responsible figures, MP Sanjay Raut and senior journalist Nikhil Wagle.” He emphasized that both individuals should have verified their facts before making such remarks, which he deemed unnecessary and inappropriate.
He further urged respect for the institution where they work, noting, “You cannot treat an institution that the entire nation respects in such a manner. Institutions are permanent; people come and go. We may not be here tomorrow, but the institution existed before us and will continue after us.”
Rai called for individuals to think carefully before making comments and urged those who make baseless remarks to act responsibly, particularly when speaking against established institutions.
In related news, Abhijit Sinha, representing the father of the late Twisha Sharma, stated that they have filed a transfer petition requesting the trial in Bhopal be moved outside Madhya Pradesh. This request was made due to the father residing in the Delhi-NCR area, and they are seeking the case to be transferred to the Rouse Avenue Court in New Delhi.
Sinha noted that the petition highlights the accused’s judicial background and influence in the current location. The court received additional materials in a sealed envelope.
Moreover, Advocate Jagat Singh reported that the case has been postponed, with the next hearing scheduled for October 26 at 10:30 AM. The Supreme Court had issued an order, but its copy had not yet reached the court, prompting the judge to ensure all necessary documentation was reviewed before proceeding.
