New Delhi, July 30: The Delhi Police have registered an FIR against AAP MLA Virender Singh Kadian, his son, and others based on allegations from a woman whose family sells flowers for a living.
The complainant, identified as Jimmy, accused the MLA and his son of assaulting her family members and using abusive language during an incident on July 18.
In her statement, Jimmy recounted that a man named Niranjan visited her flower shop, claiming to be from the MLA’s office. He took a bouquet worth 500 rupees but requested to pay only 300 rupees for the flowers. Instead of paying, he threatened to have their shop removed, asserting his connection to the MLA.
Later that day, around 3 PM, Niranjan lodged a complaint with the Cantonment Board, leading to the removal of their shop and confiscation of their goods.
When the family approached the MLA’s office later that afternoon, Jimmy alleged that the MLA’s supporters closed the door on them. She claimed that the MLA slapped her mother and verbally abused them. When her husband attempted to record the incident on his phone, he was attacked by eight to ten individuals, with the MLA’s son allegedly injuring him.
Jimmy stated, “My two-year-old son fell to the ground during the altercation. They hit me in the stomach and assaulted my child.”
According to the FIR, during the incident, her husband, parents, and other family members received repeated death threats.
“We managed to escape for our lives, but the accused followed us outside with the intent to harm. Since this incident, our entire family has been living in fear, feeling a serious threat to our safety,” she added.
The complainant further claimed that the entire incident was recorded on mobile phones and CCTV cameras.
In her complaint, she urged authorities to take immediate action, stating, “I request that an FIR be registered against the accused—Virender Kadian, Ankit Kadian, Niranjan, and other unknown individuals—and ensure a fair and swift investigation. I appeal for the immediate preservation and seizure of CCTV footage from the incident site and the MLA’s office. The accused should be interrogated, the victims should undergo medical tests, and my family should be provided with protection. Action should be taken against the guilty under the Indian Penal Code.”
