New Developments in RG Kar Medical College Doctors Rape and Murder Case

Kolkata, July 2: A significant twist has emerged in the rape and murder case of a female doctor from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The victim’s family has approached the Siadhal Court, claiming they received a letter alleging tampering with their daughter’s viscera samples. They are requesting the court to verify the authenticity of the letter and investigate the allegations.

According to reports, the letter received by the victim’s family claims that the viscera samples were tampered with at the State Forensic Science Laboratory located in Belgachia, Kolkata. The letter also alleges that three officials from the laboratory were involved in this tampering.

Sources indicate that the family has not disclosed the identity of the letter’s sender. However, the writer claims to be a former employee of the Belgachia Forensic Science Laboratory.

The letter accuses that the viscera samples taken for forensic examination were altered at the state forensic laboratory before being sent to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL).

It further claims that this alleged action was carried out under the directives of the then Chief Minister or the Trinamool Congress. The names of three officials accused of changing the viscera samples were mentioned, but the media has not disclosed their identities.

Additionally, the letter asserts that during the Trinamool regime, hundreds of viscera samples linked to BJP and CPI(M) workers were also altered. It also alleges the use of substandard materials in forensic examinations. The sender has demanded immediate action against the involved officials.

The victim’s family informed the Siadhal Court on Thursday that they received two identical letters. The first was received on May 16, followed by another on May 23.

The victim’s father stated, “We received a letter in May. We immediately informed the CBI, but no action was taken. Seven days later, the same letter arrived again, stating that the viscera report was manipulated. It details who did it and under whose orders. Now we have approached the court, and we hope the CBI will take necessary action.”

He also questioned how Narayan Swaroop Niyog, the health secretary, remains in his position despite the change in government.

It is noteworthy that the body of the female doctor was discovered on August 9, 2024, at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The following day, Kolkata police arrested civic volunteer Sanjay Roy in connection with the case. Subsequently, the investigation was handed over to the CBI by the Calcutta High Court.
