Lucknow, September 3: The appointment of Air Marshal (Retired) Jitendra Mishra as the new CEO of the Ram Temple Trust has sparked varied reactions. BJP leaders welcomed the decision, viewing it as an opportunity for a dedicated individual to take on a significant responsibility for the nation. In contrast, opposition leaders raised concerns regarding alleged financial irregularities and the management of donations linked to the temple. Maulana Sajid Rashidi, president of the All India Imam Association, also shared his thoughts on the appointment.
BJP leader Locket Chatterjee described Mishra’s appointment as positive news. He emphasized that it is a blessing for someone who has dedicated their life to serving the country to now be entrusted with responsibilities related to Ram Lalla. This sends a message that those who contribute to the nation’s progress and security receive divine blessings.
BJP national spokesperson RP Singh congratulated Mishra on his new role, noting that he was an Air Marshal during Operation Sindoor. Singh expressed hope that Mishra would manage the Trust’s operations with enhanced transparency.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak congratulated Mishra, offering prayers for the successful completion of all tasks under his leadership.
However, Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai questioned the significance of the appointment. He asked what was new about it and whether any action had been taken against those responsible for alleged donation thefts at the temple. Rai stressed that accountability and action should accompany the appointment, rather than presenting it as a major achievement.
Telangana Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed surprise over the alleged incidents involving temple donations. He highlighted that the donations made to the Ram Temple are tied to the faith of millions of Indians, making such occurrences shocking, especially under the oversight of individuals who claim to be devout Hindus.
Former Himachal Pradesh Assembly opposition leader Jairam Thakur remarked on the long struggle to construct the temple, which serves as a center of faith for millions. He wished the Trust well and hoped that faith and devotion would remain central to all temple-related activities, strengthening public trust.
Maulana Sajid Rashidi raised questions about the challenges a military veteran might face in managing a religious temple. Nonetheless, he noted that the Trust members have placed their confidence in Jitendra Mishra, who was chosen from thousands of candidates. Rashidi expressed hope that this appointment would enhance the temple’s financial management and accountability.
