New Delhi, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : A meeting of the working committee of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind was held at the Mahmoudia Library in New Delhi on September 23, 2026. The session was chaired by Maulana Mahmood Madani, the organization’s president, and included members from various regions of the country. Notably, Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani, the head of Darul Uloom Deoband, was also present.
During the meeting, the committee discussed the current state of the nation, fundamental rights enshrined in the constitution, issues surrounding religious freedom, and alleged interference in matters related to Sharia law. The discussions also covered concerns regarding places of worship, mosques, and Islamic madrasas.
Maulana Muhammad Hakimuddin Qasmi, the organization’s general secretary, read the minutes from the previous meeting, which were subsequently approved by Maulana Mahmood Madani.
The committee expressed alarm over administrative actions taken in various states. Key issues included matters related to civil and religious rights, incidents of mob lynching, and the demolition of mosques and madrasas. The committee resolved to raise these issues at the highest constitutional level and requested an appointment with the President of India to present the concerns and grievances of affected individuals.
Additionally, the meeting concluded with a decision to bring cases related to the protection of justice and constitutional principles before appropriate legal forums. The organization pledged to explore all avenues to provide legal and constitutional support to those affected.
In a media interaction following the meeting, Maulana Mahmood Madani noted that the government’s unilateral actions and alleged administrative bias were limiting the opportunities for affected individuals to seek effective legal remedies through the courts.
Madani emphasized that unilateral actions against specific communities, backed by administrative protection, are a serious concern. He highlighted that such situations are not confined to a single state or location, with reports emerging from various parts of the country.
He urged the public not to lose hope or succumb to fear, advocating for the continued pursuit of constitutional and legal rights through democratic and constitutional means. The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind will persist in utilizing available constitutional, legal, and democratic channels, and other significant decisions were made during the meeting.
