
Mumbai, May 17: Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated a new train service between Mumbai and Bengaluru on Sunday. This announcement was made via a post on social media platform X.
In his post, Vaishnaw highlighted that the new express train enhances direct connectivity between Karnataka and Maharashtra. Alongside Rail State Minister V. Somanna and other dignitaries, he flagged off the Bengaluru-Mumbai Express, promoting improved rail connectivity between the two states.
A post from the Central Railway on social media emphasized the significance of this new rail link, stating it strengthens the connection between two major power centers. The Bengaluru-Mumbai Express will facilitate easier travel for business, education, tourism, and employment opportunities.
Starting from May 17, the new Bengaluru-Mumbai Express train (16553/16554) will operate between the Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Mumbai. This service will cover the distance in approximately 24 hours and 5 minutes.
Regular services from Bengaluru will commence on May 23, while the train will start from Mumbai on May 24. The train will stop at a total of 15 stations. It will depart from Bengaluru every Saturday and Tuesday at 8:35 PM, arriving at LTT in Mumbai at 8:40 PM on Sundays and Wednesdays.
The fare for the sleeper class is set at ₹750, while the third AC fare is ₹1880 and the second AC fare is ₹2575.
