Neetu Kapoor Shares Insights on Coping with Grief After Rishi Kapoors Passing

Mumbai, May 9: In today’s world, many individuals turn to therapy and counseling during times of mental distress. However, Bollywood actress Neetu Kapoor has a different perspective. She expressed that she does not place much trust in therapy. Instead, she believes that having friends and family to confide in is essential for emotional support.

Neetu Kapoor recently appeared on actress Soha Ali Khan’s podcast, “All About Her,” where she discussed one of the most challenging periods of her life. Reflecting on the time following her husband Rishi Kapoor’s passing, she stated, “That period was extremely difficult for me, and many people advised me to see a therapist. I did follow their advice and spoke with a therapist, but I didn’t feel that this approach was right for me.”

She emphasized, “I believe that good friends are more important than any therapy. Everyone should have four or five close friends with whom they can share their thoughts without fear. When a person shares their pain and troubles with trusted individuals, it lightens their heart. Sometimes, the support of loved ones becomes the best remedy.”

Neetu continued, “After Rishi’s departure, I felt completely shattered. I was very sad and lonely. When I sat with the therapist, I often questioned what I was doing there. Until a person decides to become strong from within, no one can fully support them. I was advised to meditate, count, and adopt various techniques in therapy, but none of that felt right for me.”

She concluded, “Everyone has a different way of coping with grief. Some find help in therapy, which is great, but for me, my friends, family, and work provided the greatest support. Keeping myself busy with work helped me become mentally stronger. Spending time with family and friends gradually gave me the strength to move past my sorrow.”

Rishi Kapoor passed away in April 2020 due to cancer.
