Nagpur, June 20: A significant administrative error has emerged just before the NEET UG 2026 re-examination. The National Testing Agency (NTA) mistakenly assigned a candidate from Nagpur, Maharashtra, an exam center in Abu Dhabi, UAE, as per the admit card issued.
This incident has raised concerns for the student and his parents, occurring just a day before the re-examination scheduled for June 21. According to the family, Abdullah had selected Nagpur, Wardha, and Bhandara as his preferred exam cities during the application process. However, his admit card shows the exam center in Abu Dhabi.
Abdullah’s father, Mohammad Talib, expressed his surprise and confusion over the foreign exam center allocation in an interview. He stated, “I don’t understand how this happened. Only the agency can explain it. We chose three centers for the exam, but I can’t fathom why they want to send us to Abu Dhabi.”
Talib mentioned that Abdullah had previously taken the NEET exam and was assigned a center in Nagpur. The process went smoothly, with no issues in the application or center selection.
He added, “In the last NEET exam, he had a center in Nagpur. My son performed very well. There was no mistake on our part in choosing the center. We selected Bhandara and two other locations, but we got Nagpur. We never requested a center outside India.”
Talib noted that Abdullah was in shock upon hearing about the Abu Dhabi center. “After taking medication, he is currently asleep. Whenever we try to talk to him, he breaks down and starts crying,” he said.
Talib further shared that NTA officials acknowledged the issue and informed the family that it was a mistake on their part. “The officials told us there was a technical glitch. They assured us they would contact us again at 4 PM today,” he explained.
Despite these challenges, the family remains focused on ensuring Abdullah has a fair opportunity to take the exam. Talib concluded, “We just want our son to be able to sit for the exam. The result is secondary.”
