Imphal, August 4: Manipur’s Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh, emphasized on Tuesday that premier educational institutions like the National Institute of Technology (NIT) will play a crucial role in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India. He stated that these institutions are vital in preparing skilled human resources, fostering innovation, and accelerating the country’s overall development.
The Chief Minister attended the graduation ceremony at NIT located in Imphal, where he congratulated the graduating students and wished them success in their future endeavors.
N. Biren Singh highlighted that NIT Manipur significantly contributes to the development of both the nation and the state. He expressed the state government’s commitment to establishing a permanent campus for NIT in Manipur, stating that efforts are underway to achieve this goal with full dedication.
He acknowledged the support from BJP legislator Rameshwar Singh in advancing this vision. The Chief Minister mentioned ongoing dialogues with stakeholders to facilitate land acquisition for the campus construction.
He underscored the importance of technical education in realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047. Students graduating in fields such as Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering are expected to make significant contributions to nation-building.
The Chief Minister described NIT Manipur as an emerging educational institution in Northeast India. He urged the graduates to pursue excellence and become future leaders, utilizing their skills to contribute towards a developed India and a prosperous Manipur.
Meanwhile, NIT’s Board of Governors Chairman, Bajrang Lal Bagra, congratulated the graduating students and encouraged them to embrace creativity, innovation, and service. He stated that education should be guided by policy and compassion, urging graduates to make notable contributions to nation-building and to realize the vision of a developed India by 2047.
During the convocation ceremony, the Chief Minister, along with the Chairman of the Board of Governors and the Director, presented gold medals to outstanding students who excelled during the academic session.
The event was attended by NIT Manipur’s Director, Prof. D.V.L.N. Somayajulu, Registrar Prof. Khumukcham Tomba Singh, members of the Board of Governors and Academic Senate, deans, faculty members, staff, graduating students, and parents.
