NEET 2026 Paper Leak: Whistleblower Shashikant Praises NTA and Investigation Agencies

New Delhi, May 19: Shashikant Suthar, a chemistry teacher from Rajasthan and whistleblower in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, shared details of the incident on Tuesday. He commended the National Testing Agency (NTA) and investigative agencies for their swift action in addressing the matter.

In an interview, Suthar recounted the events following the NEET-UG 2026 exam held on May 3. Upon returning home, he learned from his landlord about a viral PDF claiming to contain questions from the medical entrance exam.

Suthar discovered that when he compared the PDF questions with the NEET paper, 45 out of 104 chemistry questions were identical. He also discussed the issue with a colleague, leading to the revelation that all 90 biology questions were also exactly the same.

Together with his landlord, coaching staff, and the director of their coaching center, Suthar concluded that this could be a case of paper leak since the questions had circulated online prior to the exam.

He reported the matter to the authorities, explaining that the police, particularly the Superintendent of Police, guided him on how to approach the NTA. Subsequently, they emailed the NTA, CBI, and the Ministry of Education with detailed information about the case.

Suthar refrained from filing an FIR initially, fearing that public knowledge of the leak would cause panic among students. He praised the NTA for their prompt response, noting that NTA Director General Abhishek Singh personally contacted him for information, to which he provided all evidence.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, a team was dispatched to Sikar to begin an investigation, later joined by the Rajasthan Special Operations Group. Suthar acknowledged the rapid actions of all investigative agencies, emphasizing their role in safeguarding students’ futures and ensuring they remained calm.

He also expressed gratitude to the central government for deciding to conduct a re-examination for NEET-UG 2026, scheduled for June 21. Suthar humbly stated that he does not consider himself a hero in this situation, but rather believes it is the responsibility of aware citizens and educators to act in the best interests of students. He condemned the teachers arrested by the CBI for their alleged involvement in the NEET paper leak.
