New Delhi, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : The United States and China are collaborating to identify non-sensitive goods for balanced trade between the two largest economies in the world. This initiative was announced by U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer during a recent podcast on the Financial Times.
Greer explained that both nations have established a framework called the “Board of Trade.” Under this system, officials from the U.S. and China are working together to create a list of goods that are not sensitive in terms of national security and can be traded in a more balanced manner.
Defending former President Donald Trump’s tariff policy, Greer claimed that it has strengthened the manufacturing sector in the U.S., prompting companies to resume production domestically.
He highlighted that over 30,000 new jobs have been added in U.S. manufacturing in 2026 alone. Additionally, productivity in manufacturing is on the rise, with all major indicators trending positively.
During discussions with small business owners and farmers nationwide, Greer noted that there is a clear understanding of the government’s efforts to bolster domestic supply chains. Many business leaders have reported that they are increasing production by adding extra shifts and rehiring staff.
On trade relations with Canada, Greer accused Ottawa of backing away from a nearly finalized trade agreement and opting for retaliatory measures against U.S. trade. He stated that the U.S. is imposing additional tariffs solely on products made in foreign countries, which he considers a standard part of trade policy, while Canada has become a primary nation for retaliatory actions.
Greer clarified that the U.S. administration intends to maintain its “America First” trade strategy moving forward. He emphasized that the country has lost a significant portion of its industrial base in recent years, and the government’s goal is to restore its strength.
