Quetta, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : In Quetta, Balochistan, fresh allegations of enforced disappearances have surfaced, with three citizens reported missing. Human rights organizations have accused Pakistani security forces of detaining these individuals and subsequently making them vanish.
The Baloch National Movement’s human rights department, known as Pank, stated that two doctors, 28-year-old Mahir Mazar and 28-year-old Jamshair Baloch, were allegedly taken into custody by security forces early Tuesday in the Turbat area of Kech district. Since then, there has been no trace of them.
According to Pank, the whereabouts, safety, and legal status of the two doctors remain unknown. Their families have not been allowed to contact them or receive any information regarding their situation.
Pank emphasized that abducting someone from their home and concealing their status constitutes “enforced disappearance,” a serious violation of human rights. The organization argues that this act contravenes international human rights laws, particularly those safeguarding rights to liberty, security, fair trial, and protection against arbitrary detention.
The organization has called on Pakistani authorities to promptly disclose information about the two doctors, grant them access to family and legal aid, and release them without delay. Pank has also urged an immediate halt to nighttime raids, arbitrary arrests, and incidents of enforced disappearances in Balochistan.
In a related incident, another human rights group, Baloch Voice for Justice, reported that Qadir Bakhsh Baloch was taken into custody by security forces on September 6 while traveling from Bagbana to Khuzdar. He has reportedly been a victim of enforced disappearance for the third time, having been abducted on two previous occasions.
The organization is demanding the immediate, safe, and unconditional release of Qadir Bakhsh Baloch and has urged Pakistani authorities to quickly disclose his whereabouts.
Human rights groups have noted a troubling rise in extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances in Balochistan, creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among the local population.
