New Delhi, June 24: In anticipation of the upcoming monsoon season, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced a ban on road cutting from July 1 to September 30. This decision aims to prevent public inconvenience and ensure smooth traffic flow, according to an official statement.
NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra emphasized that maintaining uninterrupted public services and safety during the monsoon remains the council’s top priority. He noted that proactive measures, such as halting road cutting activities and ensuring timely restoration of ongoing works, are essential to maintain smooth traffic during heavy rainfall, prevent accidents, and minimize disruptions for citizens.
An official statement highlighted that the ban on road cutting is intended to prevent waterlogging, road damage, traffic disruptions, and inconveniences for residents and travelers during the monsoon months.
The statement further explained that this restriction will help maintain the structural integrity of roads and ensure safe passage within the NDMC area.
Key directives issued by the NDMC regarding road cutting stipulate that all ongoing road cutting works must be completed, properly leveled, finished, and fully restored well before the onset of the monsoon to ensure public safety and avoid inconvenience to pedestrians and drivers.
Additionally, it was stated that any permits for road cutting that have already been granted but not yet commenced will be suspended during the ban period.
The NDMC has instructed all relevant departments, utility agencies, contractors, and implementation organizations to strictly adhere to these guidelines and ensure full compliance in the public interest.
