Patna, June 29: BJP MP Manan Mishra has asserted that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented in all states governed by the NDA. He cited Uttarakhand, Assam, and now West Bengal as examples where UCC will soon be enacted. The West Bengal government, led by Suvendu Adhikari, is set to introduce UCC as part of its agenda. The BJP’s manifesto during the Bengal assembly elections included a commitment to implement UCC.
During a media interaction in Patna, Mishra stated that implementing UCC in Bengal is a highly welcome step. He emphasized the necessity of UCC in the state, asserting that citizens have the right to equality, which is guaranteed by the Constitution. He argued that there should be no discrimination, stating that it is unacceptable for one person to have four marriages and seek divorce multiple times. He believes that UCC should be enacted as part of a thoughtful and civilized culture. Following Assam and Uttarakhand, Bengal will also see its implementation. Wherever the NDA governs, UCC will be established.
Regarding the issue of former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi vacating her residence, Mishra remarked that the public has ousted her from power. He suggested that if the house is no longer suitable for her, she should vacate it. He lamented the excuses made upon receiving the notice, stating that force should not be used in such matters.
In a humorous tone, Mishra commented on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s missing posters, saying that he is often absent, sometimes traveling abroad or meeting with terrorist organizations, and occasionally, he is caught associating with those who spread chaos in the country.
Responding to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav‘s remarks on the Ram Mandir donation controversy, Mishra expressed surprise that Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal, and Congress members are now recalling the Ram Mandir after previously opposing its construction. He noted that when the theft issue arose, the government promptly formed an SIT, registered an FIR, arrested individuals, and is currently conducting an investigation. Efforts are also underway to recover the stolen items.
Mishra took a jab at Arvind Kejriwal, recalling that his grandmother used to say that a mosque should not be demolished to build a Ram Mandir. However, with the Punjab assembly elections approaching and Uttar Pradesh elections next year, Kejriwal seems to remember the Ram Mandir.
