National Tourism Conference Discusses Vision for a Developed India by 2047

New Delhi, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : The National Tourism Conference 2026 took place in New Delhi on September 30, featuring key figures such as Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Haryana’s Tourism Minister Arvind Sharma. Subhi Chaturvedi, Chief Corporate Affairs and Public Policy Officer at InMobi, also participated in the event.

During a media interaction, Minister Arvind Sharma emphasized the importance of the conclave, stating that it was centered around tourism. He noted that Union Minister Shekhawat had to leave early due to a cabinet meeting but expressed optimism about the outcomes of such gatherings. Discussions covered various topics, including rural tourism, opportunities in the National Capital Region (NCR), and digital tourism. The vision for a “Developed India” by 2047 was a significant focus, highlighting the tourism sector’s crucial role in economic growth. Shekhawat mentioned that tourism contributes 12% to the economy, positioning India favorably on the international tourism stage.

Sharma reflected on Haryana’s tourism history, recalling that the state was a leader in the 1980s and remains committed to enhancing its tourism appeal.

Subhi Chaturvedi from InMobi remarked on the company’s status as India’s first unicorn, with a reach of 550 million devices. She stressed that technology’s role extends beyond informing people about destinations. In light of recent tragedies in the Himalayas and Nepal, she urged a reevaluation of how tourists engage with these regions. Chaturvedi pointed out that tourism currently supports 80 million jobs in India, and by 2047, there is a vision to create an additional 10 million jobs, emphasizing the synergy between tourism and culture.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat later shared insights on X, discussing the conference’s engagement with industry representatives, investors, and state ministers on India’s tourism potential. He reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s vision of establishing a trillion-dollar tourism economy by 2047, underscoring the collaborative efforts needed from governance, industry, investors, and technology stakeholders to elevate India’s tourism sector.
