National-Level Runner Pallavi Dehuri Becomes a Bus Driver Due to Family Constraints

Bhubaneswar, June 20: Every athlete dreams of working hard in their sport and achieving great success. However, many talented athletes face family circumstances that hinder their progress. Instead of representing their country, they often find themselves focused on supporting their families. Pallavi Dehuri’s story exemplifies this struggle.

Pallavi Dehuri aspired to represent India on a global stage and win medals in athletics. Unfortunately, due to family obligations, she is currently working as a driver for ‘Amma Bus’ in Odisha. Despite this setback, Dehuri has not given up on her dream of playing for her country.

In a conversation with the media, Pallavi shared, “I am originally from Assam and currently reside in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. After my father’s passing, our family’s financial situation deteriorated. With no one to support the family, I had to choose driving over sports to help them.”

Pallavi expressed her desire to return to athletics if given another chance, stating, “I would love to represent my country again, but right now, I don’t have time to practice.”

Having completed her education up to graduation, Pallavi was asked about the lack of women in driving roles and what message she would like to convey to young girls. She responded, “Girls should be courageous and strive to achieve something for themselves and their families. They should not compare themselves to others but focus on self-improvement.”

Pallavi Dehuri is a national-level runner who has competed in the 100 meters and 200 meters events. She has won both gold and silver medals in her athletic career.
