Muslim Personal Law Boards Movement to Include All Communities, Says Jamaat-e-Islami

New Delhi, June 24: Amid the announcement of a nationwide movement by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Malik Motasim Khan, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, stated that this campaign will not be limited to the Muslim community. Instead, it aims to unite all sections of society to uphold constitutional values.

Khan emphasized the significance of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board as a crucial institution. He noted that even if the Board had not declared such a movement, the current circumstances necessitate such an initiative.

He highlighted the ongoing steps towards implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) across the country. Khan pointed out that it has already been enacted in Gujarat and Uttarakhand, with similar measures underway in Assam and preparations in Madhya Pradesh. This is a topic that requires extensive dialogue and public awareness.

Khan alleged that incidents of mosque demolitions are occurring in various parts of the country, contributing to a climate of fear and insecurity. He mentioned that multiple issues are causing societal concern, with many individuals arrested and unable to secure bail for extended periods. In such an environment, a comprehensive campaign is essential to guide people and instill confidence.

The objective of this movement, according to Khan, is to inspire respect for constitutional values. He clarified that this initiative will not be exclusive to Muslims; it will also involve participation from non-Muslim communities. The Muslim Personal Law Board and other social organizations will engage with individuals from various communities to move forward collectively. The primary aim is to safeguard the rights and values enshrined in the Constitution, including freedom, equality, brotherhood, justice, and religious freedom. To ensure the protection of these constitutional guarantees, all sections of society must work together.

Khan concluded by stating that whether the campaign is led by the Muslim Personal Law Board or other organizations, its purpose will not be confined to a single community. It will include participation from Hindus and other communities as well.
