Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Supports Nationwide Movement by AIMPLB

New Delhi, June 23: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s Vice President, Malik Motasim Khan, announced on Tuesday that the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has decided to launch a nationwide movement against the marginalization of Muslims and the demolition of mosques and madrasas. This initiative will be supported by both Muslims and non-Muslims.

In an interview with a news agency, Khan stated, “The Muslim Personal Law Board is a vital institution. Even if they had not made this announcement, action was necessary.”

He highlighted the ongoing implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in various states, including Gujarat, Uttarakhand, and Assam, with preparations underway in Madhya Pradesh. “Mosques are being demolished across the country. This destruction is ongoing. The issues are not limited to one; many individuals are arrested without bail, creating an atmosphere of fear,” he added.

Khan emphasized the need for a campaign to instill confidence among people and encourage respect for constitutional values. “Dialogue is essential,” he noted.

He clarified that the campaign is not solely for Muslims but will involve both communities working together against unconstitutional practices. “Hindu brothers who stand for justice will also participate in this movement,” he stated.

The objective of this campaign is to protect the constitutional guarantees of freedom, equality, fraternity, justice, and religious liberty in the country.

A statement revealed that the AIMPLB’s executive committee has formed an action committee in collaboration with democracy-loving and peace-promoting segments of society. The movement aims to highlight the promotion of hatred and animosity, damage to communal harmony, and attacks on the lives, property, honor, and dignity of Muslims.

Previously, during a meeting chaired by AIMPLB President Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, it was stated that “the forced implementation of the UCC is against the religious freedom guaranteed under Article 25 of the Indian Constitution.” The executive committee also expressed concerns regarding legislative efforts under the guise of the UCC in BJP-ruled states.
