Mumbai, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Railway has initiated continuous monitoring of the Paladhi-Tarsod Bypass Highway Road Over Bridge (ROB) following the collapse of its Reinforced Earth (RE) wall in the Jalgaon-Bhadli sector. A strict directive has been issued to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for a technical report on the incident.
According to a press release from Central Railway, the condition of the RE wall at the NHAI’s Paladhi-Tarsod Bypass Highway ROB, located at kilometer 423/16-18, is under intensive scrutiny. Part of the wall collapsed on July 31, 2026.
The ROB was opened to road traffic on August 17, 2025, and includes a 1 x 18-meter viaduct, a 1 x 35-meter main span, and another 1 x 18-meter viaduct. Following the incident, one of the two lanes of the carriageway has been closed to traffic, while the other lane leading towards Nagpur remains operational.
Central Railway has confirmed that rail tracks and operations are entirely safe and normal, with no impact on rail traffic due to this incident. In light of the ongoing monsoon season, the site is being monitored continuously, and precautionary measures are being implemented as needed.
The railway authorities have raised the issue with NHAI immediately after the collapse, ensuring ongoing review and follow-up through correspondence and meetings. NHAI has been advised to take necessary precautions for stabilizing the RE wall, provide an adequate drainage system, analyze the root cause, expedite restoration, and ensure continuous monitoring of the site.
Central Railway is currently awaiting the technical design details of the RE wall, along with the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and restoration plan from NHAI.
